A FULL BREAKDOWN of ALL SYMBOLS and THE ENDING of The Watchers | EXPLAINED
In this The Watchers Explained / The Watchers Ending Explained, I break down the new Watchers film, starring Dakota Fanning, Georgina Campbell, Olwen Fouéré, and Oliver Finnegan. Directed by Ishana Night Shyamalan, an excellent horror and psychological thriller, exploring themes of self-reflection and insecurity. I believe this film does a great job of capturing Irish folklore and mythology through such creative filmmaking.
Furthermore, in this The Watchers analysis video and Lucas Blue The Watchers spoiler review, I'll examine the film's symbolism and meaning, uncovering The Watchers easter eggs, examining how it explores judgement and shame.
This The Watchers review breaks down why The Watchers is a masterpiece, what The Watchers means for the future of psychological horror, why The Watchers works, and why The Watchers is so shocking. This is why I love The Watchers. Hope you enjoy!

    Yeah that is.... not at all what I saw the parakeet king to represent at all. He is never cruel or filled with hate. Only an unwavering conviction to protect his subjects, but falling in that last moment of needing to trust your ruler. He did not strike out of hate. Only fear for how his world and his people could end up turning out. He never shown, or spoke of himself as holier than thou. And that, I believe anyway, is why he was allowed to return to his "ancestral" form. He was only a character for less than 10 minutes, and in that time we only see him transporting Himi to her Grand uncle, and fear reacting that a simple boy was about to destroy his entire reality. Regardless of how foolish he was to react so quickly and carelessly in the end, I don't think it's fair to regard him as something so negative

    I enjoyed your analysis, but I think your reading of Maddie and Owen's ending pretty definitively misses the allegory of the film as one about the trans experience. Maddie, in the sense of the literal plot as we see it, does undergo a "death" in her being buried alive - but I believe this to be a reflection of the death of one's former identity when they undergo a transition. Sure, "Maddie" does die, but only in that they have become Tara, their true self. This metaphorical death of the self scares Owen, and he rejects Maddie's attempts to save him. Owen goes on to live an unfulfilling life. The Pink Opaque, to Owen as far as I believe, is representative of escapism through media whereby queer people live vicariously. Owen is not prepared to transition, so he watches The Pink Opaque as a means to escape into what he believes to just be a fantasy; To Owen, his being Isabel is not attainable. Later, though, Owen attempts to rewatch the show and once more live vicariously through it, but escapism can only fulfill him for so long, and the show feels childish and shallow in his older years. When Owen cuts his chest open in the bathroom, he receives concrete proof that Maddie was right - that this life he has is not a representation of who he truly is (Isabel). Even with this, Owen is not prepared to take the leap and transition. His journey is one of repression; repression of who we truly are. I believe that Maddie's ending is a happy one, but she does not return because other's can only get us so far. At the end of the day, we ourselves must take the leap and become who we are meant to be. Maddie cannot save Owen if he is not ready to save himself.

    Late Night With the Devil, is the Ultimate Love Story.. Its the NoteBook movie but on Steroids.. I've watched this movie over 20x.. Sh!t I'm watching it now as I'm watching this UA-cam breakdown Lol.. ''My Perspective'' I believed that Jack Deleted Milly and she came back for vengeance and everyone on stage were all pawns.. Milly did what she did thru being a Poltergeist, it shows how the electricity was building up over time which took over Lilly's body and split her head down the middle.. Also when Milly is laying on the bed she mentions a Phrase to Jack "Exit Stage Left" and the meaning is "to exit stage left" (idiomatic) An orderly and uneventful departure, timed so as not to detract or distract. To exit or disappear in a quiet, non-dramatic fashion, making way for more interesting events. (imperative) Leave the scene, and don't make a fuss. I believe she came back to Jack to bring some realism to what Jack did when he Deleted her. I also think Milly was faking like she had Cancer when she was on the show to get more ratings for Night Owls.. Because Milly herself was a Drama Performer when she was on the show Oh! Calcutta! (Broadway, Eden Theatre, 1969). And the reason he stabbed Lilly at the end with the sacred dagger, is because it was a reenactment of what really happened between Jack and Milly when they were alone. Jack needed a Blood Sacrifice to Level Up.. Remember Jack has Power and Influence over the Media so making up a story wouldn't be far fetched (Hence using the Lung Cancer) But wait Milly DON'T Smoke.. This is just my synopsis of this Brilliant Movie "Late Night With The Devil.."

  • @namanh8439
    @namanh8439 19 годин тому

    shw much as the movie is an internal struggle for Jack between his humanity and the desire for success, the same can be said for June. She herself stood between Lilly's well-being and her research credibility. She wanted to protect Lilly but at the same time she was also launching her first book and with the presence of a skeptic like Heig, her credibility could be sabotaged if she cant prove them. Thatz why there are moments she struggled between these choices and can be easily persuaded into giving up Lilly's safety for the show

    So is this movie about maddy trying to get owen to transition into isabel and be gay?

  • @nixien1496
    @nixien1496 День тому

    I don't think what maddy did was suicide, I think it's very representative of transition for a trans person. I had several stops and starts before I transitioned myself, usually stymied by random events but it kept building up in me like a wave and I'd compromise more to try and live in my assigned role, but eventually the compromises are terrifying. I self medicated and took potent drugs and hormones I knew would drastically change my body prior to that I was trying to castrate myself injecting poison right into them to kill them. I remember thinking the exact line maddy says in the film when they buried themselves alive. And part of you says "Your crazy what your doing here is completely crazy, Your going to die." But another part of you says "I'm not crazy, This is survival, We need to survive, I'm burning and I'm running out of time." Because yeah in my mind I was killing the male version of me gun to head, a "man" dosen't inject estrogen into themselves, A man doesn't inject poison into his nutsack to kill his manhood.

  • @momoneylessproblems9183
    @momoneylessproblems9183 День тому

    Interpreting this movie as Owen actually being Isabel from the Pink Opaque would be disingenuous. Its all metaphorical. Owen is just a guy who struggles with his sense of identity. He grew up in a broken home. His mother died of an illness. His father was abusive and uncaring. He never finds an outlet. Never finds a purpose. Never really finds his way in life. Owen just lets life pass him by as he gets more depressed and psychotic and never does anything constructive and never seeks help to resolve what is clearly clinical depression. By the end hes just a sad middle aged man whos on anti psychotics and this delusion that hes Isabel is just his mind kind of irrationally clinging to some hope that his miserable existence is just an illusion. When it is anything but. The Pink Opaque was just a TV he watched as a kid that left a big emotional impression on him. Nothing more. This is a movie about letting life pass you by without finding out who you really are and what your purpose really is. The ending isnt a happy one in my view. There is no self actualization. Its just a dude whos having a mental breakdown trying to balance his newly prescribed regiment of antidepressants/antipsychotics as no one even cares enough to pay attention to him.

    I totally understood what they were trying to say, and I applaud them for their efforts and I love Jane's work, but it still felt very emotionally hollow to me when I think it shouldn't have been. It had too much symbolism and not enough substance. But it was still very well made. Just far too quiet for me, which I guess is odd coming from me since I've always loved those type of films. I recommend everyone see it once though.

    Fantastic analysis. There are still 2 things I can't understand in this movie. 1. Who is the man on the subway? The one who is singing and then disappears, and then is seen again with the newspaper, then following Max? I assume this man is a hallucination caused by paranoia, but not sure. 2. What's with the ants everywhere in his apartment? Is this a reminder of nature? Again, they seem like a hallucination as they are crawling around inside his computer and on the brain he is already hallucinating.

    I wrote a whole novel as a comment, deleted it, tried to make it shorter but wrote another novel. I hope the 3rd time is the charm. Less detail, more to the point. I liked this movie and even though it was meant to represent the LQBT+ community I think most people can relate to a lot of the feelings the characters go though. Discovering who you truly are is universal. However, I think some people who watch this film won't get it. They will think it was horrible because they are use to movies spelling everything out and ending with a happily ever after ending. I just hope there isn't so many of those people that they tank the ratings and people who could really benefit from watching this don't end up seeing it. (Yes, this is my short version).

    I increasingly believe the whole concept of identification in someone else in order to find oneself (or even to enjoy a work of fiction whatsoever) is very overrated and self-indulgent towards the alibi to not being willing to be empathetic regardless of gender/race "condition", as if we weren't after all individuals each one with our peculiarity and non categorizable features, no-one actually representative of none other than himself/herself and nothing less or more.

    I think she says something like, "Don't apologize" and that stuck with me regarding the ending. He keeps saying sorry over and over to people who don't see him or ignore him, which to me read that while he did have a moment of clarity, he did what he had always done: If you don't think about, it isn't real. So he took a figurative step back and apologized, despite having nothing to apologize for, and that was so sad to me...
